Smart farming: a 'smart' way of farming
The term smart farming, also known as Agriculture 4.0, refers to the set of useful tools put in place by farms to make their production more efficient and sustainable.
In recent years, smart farming has also been on the rise in Italy. This is confirmed by data from the Smart Agrifood Observatory of the School of Management of the Milan Polytechnic and the RISE Laboratory (Research & Innovation for Smart Enterprises) of the University of Brescia, which confirms that in 2022, even in Italy, the degree of adoption of Agriculture 4.0 has recorded a not inconsiderable growth rate: we are talking about 31%.
But what are the reasons behind the rise of this special cultivation method? Find out with Caffini in this article!
Smart farming: digitising agriculture for more conscious production
In recent years, farmers have started to invest more and more resources in smart farming, adopting management software and monitoring/control systems with a smart footprint.
Thanks to smart farming, the cultivated area has increased: from 6% in 2021 to 8% in 2022, with room for improvement in 2023. Overall, there has been a 15% growth in remote monitoring systems for crops and land.
Compared to non-smart farms, in short, there is a tangible improvement. But why is this happening?
It's simple: precision agriculture makes it possible to record quality agronomic information, as well as providing useful information on the status of the tools themselves. All of this makes it possible to make more conscious management decisions, thus being able to more easily project into the 'future' of production and also adapt it to current climate change.
We can therefore define smart farming as a precision technology. Smart machines, in fact, allow production to be optimised, enabling the farmer to constantly monitor every aspect of cultivation, from dosage to irrigation, from the state of the soil to the state of the machinery, including remote control that allows the timely diagnosis of malfunctions.
Smart farming passes through Caffini
All this is guaranteed by Caffini, its experience in the field and its constant commitment to the development of innovative, effective and cutting-edge sprayers.
